Fear not for those of you who love many patterns but scared to use them, must read on…. What a great introduction from Sanderson Fabrics and Wallpapers showing their SS12 collecton and how one can use many beautiful and eye popping colorful patterns in one room. Some of us have heard the 3 pattern only rule be used in a space. Well that’s just not true. I’ve told many of my clients, yes, yes and yes we can use array of patterns together to form a beautiful room. When the space is well thought out and designed correctly, and with balancing of colors, patterns, and textures you too can create a beautiful designed room that represents who you are and what you love. Next when your out buying the sofa you love, think about how you want that displayed in your room. Take here in the photo for example. The solid sofa plays a great part in being the back drop to display the patterns, large and small used in pillows to give us our pop. Here shown the wallpaper, fully capturing your attention to the walls, they continued to bring the pattern print down by using it in a couple pillows. From there they pulled in other patterns with colors used in pillows to flow so nicely together. Speaking of patterns, stripes is a great pattern to work with in many spaces. Here a displayed rug is shown that plays another huge part in drawing and complimenting other colorful patterns to itself. Another great idea here shown is the yellow chair. The solid yellow fabric works wonderfully breaking up some of the busyness. By doing this, they were able to pull in a colorful printed patterned chair that works great! This beautifully done room using Sanderson’s colorful fabrics was a great topic to write about. So for all of you that love patterns, but are afraid to use them, well no more. Here’s an excellent example that you can! Please visit my web site and see how I’ve used colorful patterns and prints that my clients love and apppreciate in their spaces. Happy decorating! We all want sometimes to re-do our space, but it’s not in the budget. The best way to go
about helping ourselves enjoy our space in the meantime is just by adding some
refreshing accessories. This could be adding new pillows with great color and
patterns, artwork, Greenery, beautiful vases, unique candle holders, mirrors,
and lighting. Or just a simple accent table with pizzazz is a fantastic way to add creativity to a room.
Finding pieces you love and enjoy will tend to stick with you longer. Don’t settle and buy pieces just to fill up a space, that’s no fun. Give it some thought, make a plan, and figure out where you would like to add these pieces in the room.
If you have problems visualizing when shopping, take pictures of areas where you want to refresh. This will help you see and visualize what may work best when you’re out looking. Keep your plan and photos with you at all times, even your colors that are in the room. This way when you are out somewhere, and run into a shop you did not plan to go in, you have all your information with you.
I have seen more people buy on an impulse and take it home to only find out it does not work and then have to return it. Save your gas and money by doing less of this, and keeping your plan with you at all times.
To create that punch and pop of color, look to see the colors in your
room. Pull out a few you like to add the pop you need. It could be a colorful quirky and unusual
accessory that caught your eye; this would make a great conversation piece.
Always remember to shop for yourself and find the things that speak to you and make you feel good and smile.
For now until you are able to accomplish your bigger goal of re-decorating, you can find some contentment, and enjoy your new refreshed accessories that will last well with you for a while.
Last but not least, each accessory has its own place and makes a great statement for your room. I have some pictures shown of neat accessories that I like. Enclosed is a list of resources where you can find the items enclosed on my blog.
Have fun and start shopping!
