I know Pantone called the color of the year Emerald green, which I’ve seen around, but not a lot in the decor arena. Many of my clients have been wanting aqua and teal lately. I wonder why this is. What is it about this color that draws people? Well for one, it’s a relaxing and tranquil color. A lot of people are finding this color very calming. You see this in nature, the ocean, and the great luminous sky above us.
Atmosphere is taken center stage in homes right now. I believe for many reasons why this may be. For one, we all have been inundated with the hype of the media of our economy with its highs and lows. So many are tired, and working harder than ever before. Technology is increasing and so is the demand for speed. The homes now are transforming lives, it’s about mind, body and soul. I’m seeing more people investing in their homes for this reason to creating an atmosphere that makes them feel wonderful. My business of turning houses in to homes has become life changing for a lot of my clients, some dealing with difficulties, and challenges of life. If you want to create a relaxing atmosphere and need a quick fix, start off by simply painting a room. It’s amazing how color can make one feel. That’s why these teal and aqua colors are so popular now. It’s a very relaxing and soothing color, it just feels good! I’ve seen this color in accents, painted furniture, and even gorgeous fabrics.
The great thing about these colors is it can be used all year round, not just in the summer. Aqua and teal are being used with other soft colors, like whites, creams, yellows, corals, light greens, and other hues of blues balanced together right. I’ve used one color a lot by Ben. Moore called Wythe blue, and Ben.Moore HC-144 Palladian blue, just gorgeous. Again, these colors look great on walls, furniture, fabrics, and accessories. Your home is worth the investment, and so are you for your well-being! If teal and aqua is not your color, that’s ok, but find that color that makes you feel all these things, that would be a great start!
